Remember the 2018 AFC championship game? If you don’t, it was Patriots Vs Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes was the new face on the block, challenging the man who had won everything and was established, Tom Brady.

All of America was cheering for the new kid on the block. They wanted to see the Patriots dynasty come crawling to an end. But in the end, the veteran Tom Brady won the game with a clutch final drive like he had done many times before. The Patriots went on to win their 6th Super Bowl.

Mahomes’ continued dominance

Now, fast-forward to this past week. The Chiefs have now won two Super Bowls since that day in 2019 and have been to four Super Bowls in the past five years. All of America wanted Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to be that new team to dethrone the Chiefs’ reign. But in the end, like he’s done many times before, Patrick Mahomes finished the game with a clutch drive in the final 2 minutes to send his team to another Super Bowl appearance.

I know many people, especially Patriots fans, don’t want to hear it, but Patrick Mahomes is on track to becoming the greatest quarterback of all time. Is he there yet? No, but in his six years at the helm of the Kansas City Chiefs, all they’ve done is win. They’ve won the big game twice and can add a third.

Mahomes’ is on the right track

Patrick Mahomes is on the fast track to greatness, and everyone loves to hate on greatness. It’s eerily similar to when Brady was dominating the league for 20 seasons. Even this season a lot of people were wondering how Mahomes would handle his offensive situation. There were games where the Chiefs struggled mightily and it was apparent that they were missing their offensive weapons of the past. But when it came down to it in the playoffs, Mahomes and his team showed up once again and with the help of the defense they once again made it to the big game.

Whether or not we want to admit it as fans, Mahomes is seriously turning many heads as a potential candidate to dethrone Tom Brady as the GOAT. Now, of course, he’s got a long way to go. Brady’s career was incredible; he holds many all-time league records and won 7 Super Bowls. But in 6 short years, Mahomes has gotten people talking, which is impressive. But what do you think? Can Mahomes surpass Brady as the Greatest of all time? Or did Brady leave too big of a challenge that no one will ever beat?
